BEATRICE PERRON DAHLEN
MULTI-MEDIA ARTIST
BIO
The oldest of four children, I grew up moving from place to place with my military family. After living in such places as Keflavik Iceland, Philadelphia PA and Pensacola FL, my family settled in southern New Hampshire. Here I first began to explore clay, drawing, photography and fiber arts.
In 2001 I began my studies at Massachusetts College of Art. I explored many 2D and 3D media; installation, video, film, printmaking, fibers, sculpture and photography. While there, I was very involved with the Mass Art and Boston community, volunteering with children’s and community art projects, organizing group shows and performances and taking a leadership role in Mass Art’s Student Government Association. In 2005, upon completion of a B.F.A. in Sculpture, I worked and traveled abroad and within the United States.
In 2007 I began work on my Master of Education at Antioch University New England. My passion for teaching arts to children brought me to pursue a career in education. Antioch’s program was attractive to because of the way it encouraged teaching in many ways to reach many kinds of learners, integrating fine arts, music and movement into the classroom. While at Antioch, I rented press time from Twin Vixen Press in Brattleboro, VT.
In 2008 I moved to Portland, Maine with my husband Peter where we purchased a home. I presently work as a public school teacher and co-run a Farm based summer camp program. In addition to a home based studio, I am a member of Pickwick Independent Press.
